Mr Netanyahu's stance appeared to guarantee, after a highly charged week, the protraction of a stand-off in which a full-scale diplomatic row blew up at the start of Mr Biden's visit and appeared to abate at the end of it. But it was then reignited by demands from Hillary Clinton and an angry White House that Israel make amends for the "insulting" announcement just as indirect negotiations with the Palestinians had finally been arranged.

Still awaiting word on when Obama will "run out of patience" with the kidnappings, suicide bombings and constant threats being waged from the other side of that border.

Colleen LaRose, according to a US court indictment, posted messages online under the name Jihad Jane, expressing her desire to participate in jihad, or holy war.

Arrested in October 2009, Ms LaRose had exchanged emails over 15 months to recruit fighters for "violent jihad".

Having left the US in August, by the end of September, she had allegedly written online that it would be "an honour & great pleasure to die or kill for" her intended spouse, the indictment said.
 
Ms LaRose's boyfriend said he never saw her display any interest in the Muslim veil

Is she being charged with sedition and treason, too?  Somehow I doubt it but she should be.

The true nature of God

In the Bible, there's a whole lot of smiting going on.  Time and again, the tale has been told of civilization going astray and being wiped out by an act of God, to start over.  The fate of Sodom as well as the story of the flood in Genesis, are iconic examples of the destructive brutality of God's wrath, as it's related through the sacred text.

So, don't be surprised when even the unbelievers among us hear a creep like Robertson profess the intentions and motivations of God, and figure that matches pretty well with the image that even his own spokesmen have put out there.

Instead of taking issue with the messenger, perhaps the more rational among you should start taking issue with the message.

"We're creating Comerso, meaning Socialist Corporation of Markets," Chavez said at the opening of a "socialist" fast-food location for traditional Venezuelan arepas (cornbread).

"They'll see what's good. We'll show them what a real market is all about, not those speculative, money-grubbing markets, but a market for the people," said Chavez in his drive to change Venezuela from a market-based economy to a socialist one.

Because it worked so great the last time.

Moderate Muslims: The New Loch Ness Monster

Latest sighting:  Luton.  Scene of disgraceful, hatefilled protests at an Army homecoming parade, earlier this year.

The same moderate muslims who allowed rioting lunatics to shout "butchers" and "cowards" at returning soldiers, without a peep of protest, were also on hand to silently witness similarly middle-eastern thugs hurling eggs at and threatening a member of parliament, on a walk-about to engage in reasoned debate with the community...

Yesterday, Baroness Warsi said there were only about 'seven, eight or maybe ten' protesters who did not represent the true feelings of the thousands of moderate Muslims in the town. 

But are they a tiny minority, or was the outbreak of violence a symptom of a wider problem: the failed integration into society of a group of Muslim extremists (many British-born)?

Is it apathy, or tacit approval that makes these thousands of moderate muslims sit silently while a woman is harrassed and assaulted in their streets?

Although only 20 per cent of Luton's 200,000 population is Muslim, the figure in Bury Park is much higher. The area has its own madrassa (faith school), Islamic primary school and shops selling halal meat and Asian clothes.

While the overwhelming majority of Muslims lead decent, peaceful lives, there have been incidents which reveal tensions. When a Mecca Bingo Hall opened, its windows were smashed after some Muslims claimed the neon 'Mecca' sign insulted their religion because it associated the name of their holy city with gambling. Advertising hoardings featuring women deemed to be showing too much flesh have also been defaced.

Over the past 18 months or so, around 30 non-Muslim homes have been attacked. One white couple in their 80s had bricks hurled through their front window. A West Indian woman in her 70s was watching TV when a metal beer keg crashed through her bay window.

Whichever it is, Muslims cannot claim these "extremists" don't represent them, when they cede the stage to them at every opportunity.  It just shows the rest of us whose side they're really on.

...And the problem of making it our fault...

A paranoid or depressive person—of whom we have many millions in our midst—does not have to end up screaming religious slogans while butchering his fellow creatures. But a paranoid or depressive person who is in regular touch with a jihadist "spiritual leader" is presented with a ready-made script that offers him paradise in exchange for homicide.

A medal for the ultimate cowardice?

Have we all lost our minds?

Do we honestly want to treat a soldier who commits suicide while on active duty, as an honourable death on the same plane as those who truly give their life in service to their country?

Soldiers who commit suicide would receive the medal if the suicide is found to have been service-related, according military officials hosting a media briefing Monday.

I think it's disgraceful.  This is the most certain form of desertion and should be treated as the shameful act it is.

The enemy are big fans of suicide, too.  Why not give them all medals?

Save your tears for the ones left behind

Suicide is a coward’s way out.  It is a cruel, stiff middle finger to anyone and everyone who has ever loved you and an outlet for inflicting the maximum amount of damage, without the burden of facing consequences for it.

My strong feelings about suicide come from a full understanding of what it feels like to consider it as an option, as well as a complete awareness of the self-pitying martyr’s complex that motivates the choice. 

It is the last wickedly selfish act of a true coward.

Those who choose a public display for the spectacle of their death do so for the sake of spreading their misery, often to innocent bystanders, as well as to accomplish the public humiliation of their friends and family.  To mourn a man who laid his body down on subway tracks, is to give no thought or concern for the thousands of commuters affected by a shutdown of the entire line, or the poor souls charged with cleaning his remains off the tracks, or the next of kin who are forced to examine those remains to identify their loved one.  A man thinks only of himself when he does this, and in the wake of it, too many of us reward this selfishness by thinking only of him, too.

But how much worse is it when, in the act of taking his life this way, a man denies the opportunity for justice to those he may have victimized in life?  Guilty or not, he robbed every last one of us of the chance to know the truth.  Yet, despite that, he is mourned and hailed as a martyr, by those who now call him a victim of our viciousness.  No thought to the real victims, who may never have the chance to have their stories told and no thought to the rest of us who are left to further wonder about the potential predators in our midst.

He’s gone, and he still wins.

What I consider to be a classic case of projection

Again, I’m struck by the similarity between the techniques of global warming proponents and leftards; they both use cherry-picked data, they both make outrageous claims couched in pseudo-scientific language that sounds convincing to gullible people, they both compile lists of skeptical “scientists” that turn out to be packed with ringers, frauds, and people who never signed in the first place, and they both use quote mining.

I only changed 2 words in this quote, and the entire meaning has been altered.  Some would say to more closely reflect that elusive state called reality.

Tales from the crypt

Missing from this report is the fact that the 4 accused are all African-American, themselves.  If this had been done by white people, the peals of "hate crime" would have been enough to wake the dead...

At one time, Burr Oak Cemetery was the only place black Chicagoans were sure they could bury their dead.

But on Wednesday, the historic African-American cemetery became the site of a horror story.

As many as 100 human bodies — someone’s grandfather, grandmother, father, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew cousin or friend — were removed from their graves and the plots resold.

The manager of Burr Oak Cemetery and three gravediggers were charged this morning, accused of scheming to dig up gravesites and resell them.

Disgraceful as this is -- and make no mistake, this is a despicable thing -- I'm always astounded when people characterize these things as a "crime against the dead".  They're dead.  They are beyond feeling or caring what happens to their bodies.  Otherwise, I'm sure that whole embalming thing, along with bloating and various carnivorous, many-legged critters would cause just a wee bit of discomfort, no?

This is a crime against their surviving families and simple human decency.  Let's just keep a grip on that.

Your right to let her speak

Handily referred to as “Big Sister” by a follow-up caller to the show, Jennifer Lynch, Chief Heavy at the Canadian Commission for Intentional Irony was on the radio with John Oakley this morning, and peppered among the litany of boilerplate rhetoric and token grievance politispeak, were plenty of awkward pauses and the occasional admonishment to the host for using “criminal language” to describe what her agency does.

Apparently the selective persecution of speech in this country, which compels victims to testify in their defense, provide evidence as ordered by the “tribunal” and submit themselves to fines and restrictions on their freedom of speech and choice, is, insofar as the Lynchmob is concerned, not akin to criminal prosecution.  I have to concede she is correct on that point, if only because at least with a criminal prosecution you have the right to defend yourself in a venue with a standard set of procedures and precedent, as well as a hope in hell of winning – something which cannot be said about the HRCs in this country.

Totally not free speech related, but interesting to note was the fact that I could almost envision J-Ly making the “quotes” action over the words “tragic events” of 9/11.

My advice to Queen Jackboot…if you’re reading from prepared notes, you shouldn’t sound like you are and when you reach the mucky, stench-filled bottom of a very deep hole, you shouldn’t keep digging.

The Canadian Association of Journalists calls upon our Prime Minister to "focus his undivided attention and all resources possible on finding and rescuing" a pair of freelance journalists who entered a civil war zone, well-known for kidnappings and ransom demands.

But a pair of journalists, on assignment for their high-profile boss, get snatched by a hostile government and the well-connected, former international diplomatic heavyweight who chairs the organization they represent lets not a whisper pass from his diuretic lips.

And the media has no comment about that?

Being Canadian means always having to say you're sorry

Even though they have definitively lost the war and the leader of the terrorist group they so passionately cheer for is dead, they still refuse to go home.

Is it because the protesters (mostly Canadian-born adolescents who have never been to Sri Lanka) feel so passionately about the cause?

Or does it have more to do with them having nowhere better to go and nothing better to do with their time?

It's worth asking...

Thousands of hyphenated-Canadians disrupt traffic and movement throughout the city for weeks, cart their own children onto a major highway to shield them from police action, and promise more and more of the same if their demands for government intervention into a regional conflict thousands of miles away are not met, but I'm a racist because I'm sick to death of having my city held hostage by these Canadians of convenience?

Unfortunately, when people like Michael Ignatieff want to play politics and give-in to selfish bastards it makes the situation that much worse.

He should have stayed out of it, like the Prime Minister has. It's a Toronto issue until the Mayor asks for help.

But therein lies the problem. If Toronto had a Mayor with balls, the protestors would have been given a short deadline and then if they didn't move, the snowplows should have been brought out of storage.

That would have moved them.

But the Mayor doesn't even bring out the snowplows for, you know, snow...

Skippy is also on board with the hectoring, though if there is derisive mockery to be done he's what we'd call a high quality "first responder", so I guess I shouldn't be surprised...

I fully support the right to non-violent protest, even if it involves scaring the shit out of me when I'm just trying to get to work. If you get gorgeous women involved, I understand even more. On the other hand, flags with guns on them sort of contradicts the idea of calling for a cease-fire, doesn't it? Or is it just me? Could I be the one missing something?

Having said all of that, that shit you pulled on the Gardiner Expressway yesterday was a little much. Did you know that 2,000 people running out in the middle of a highway is 2,000% dumber than one person doing it? Google it.

I see a "Healing Circle" in your future

The Leader of the Opposition waxes poetic about the eponymous "us".

And a newborn baby turns blue, face-down in a Walmart toilet, under a pile of discarded tissue...

Halkett, 22, admits to having the baby during a 14-minute visit to the Wal-Mart store in Prince Albert on May 21, 2007. But she has pleaded not guilty to abandoning the child in the toilet.

Court has heard a shopper in the next stall heard grunts and saw a pool of blood on the floor. She told staff she thought a woman was having a baby and needed help.

Two other women later saw a tiny, purple arm poking out of the toilet bowl, which was filled with blood and bathroom tissue. The store's manager plucked the baby out of the toilet and paramedics arrived to help him start breathing. He survived.

Halkett repeatedly testified that she didn't know she was eight months' pregnant. When she saw the baby in the toilet and believed he was dead, she became "scared."

Halkett said she tried to clean up the bloody mess with toilet paper, then threw the paper into the toilet, on top of the baby. She washed her hands and left the store without talking to anyone.

She said she felt faint and had trouble walking to the parking lot where a group of friends and family were waiting for her in a vehicle.

Someone should ask Iggy why Liberals hate native children so much, that they are happy to continue letting them live and die this way.
