Or political punch to the face..?
Until now, I have doubted whether Palin was the one to carry these big ideas forward. Her performance has staggered between brilliant and disastrous. She gave a terrific acceptance speech at the Republican Convention and cringe-inducing interviews after. She did an awful job explaining her sudden departure from the governor’s position in Alaska.
Having now seen her in action, what I now see is that her conservatism is in her bones, people relate to her and most of the mainstream media will never get her.
She has radar for the aspirations of regular people, causing her to speak past many journalists and what she probably thinks are their dorky questions. Many in the media could spend hours listening to Barack Obama pontificate about Copenhagen or his outreach to the Muslim world. Palin couldn’t care less. She’s all about controlling spending, lower taxes, safe streets and borders and practical solutions for the environment, healthcare and education. That’s it.
Terrific timing.

I agree Palin's the real deal in many ways---she's genuine and understands the frustrations of the people and why the private sector should be emphasized over the public sector.
What she doesn't seem to get is just how involved government at ALL levels is in EVERYTHING; e.g., her parents are/were teachers, and she doesn't seem to get that THEY are/were PUBLIC SECTOR employees paid by taxes on the private sector.
She also seems in favor of all the overseas adventures the neocons can concoct.
When she recently campaigned in TX for Rick Perry, she referred to his earlier comment about secession. When THAT comment elicited a HUGE spontaneous applause, she seemed nonplussed---I wonder if that SCARED her, or if it just threw her off her cadence.
TX and several other states are moving in the direction of secession, and if ObamaCare passes and we have a HUGE financial collapse this year, as I expect, all bets are off.
I'd like to see her study up on Austrian Economic Theory and libertarian ideas.
I don't have a problem with her not being an intellectual. It's that group of pompous, vain, arrogant FOOLS that's behind many of our problems. What I DO wish from her is more focused study on the Founders' thinking, as well as the two specific areas mentioned above.
Having said all that, she's INFINITELY better in every way than Barry Soetoro, our Manchurian Muslim Chicago Thug Imposter-in-Chief.
