Personally, I think Danny Williams should be entitled to do whatever he wants with his own money and his own health care. What, that we should all be so fortunate as to have the choice.
But one thing's for sure...I certainly hope I don't ever again, have to hear the "Americanized Health Care" sneer that Liberals are so fond of using, like it's a dirty word. After all, if it sucked so bad down there, he wouldn't be blowing wads of cash to use it when it's free at home...right?

Did you leave a word out at the end of your last paragraph? Shouldn`t it read "blowing wads of OUR cash" ? After all he is only paying for his flight down south our healthcare is paying the expensive medical part as far as we know.

Good point Bob. I'm sure that some butt kissing Newfie Health bureaucrat approved the trip before you could say "Lord Tunderin Bejesus!"

Firstly, Danny Williams isn't part of Canada's national Liberal Party. He's Conservative.
Secondly, he wasn't snubbing socialized healthcare: the treatment he needed wasn't available where he lived in the country, and although a procedure of a similar nature was available half a country away, the way in which it was done had a longer recovery time than the Florida procedure. Over 60% of those in his home province (where those who know him the most live) supported his decision and efforts to have a speedier recovery and more efficient procedure in the United States.
@Texas Canuck: Newfoundland residents consider it a great offense for others to throw around the term "Newfie" with such nonchalance.
