From quarters where the hue and cry would be deafening, should imperialist westerners dare occupy, to civilize, violent cesspools like Afghanistan or Palestine -- we have the call to send in the Marines..!
Canada, the U.S., France and other nations are rushing aid to Haiti. Food and medical help are essential, but Haiti also must have an effective government that cares for its desperate people. A small UN contingent has achieved little. What Haiti really needs is to be again administered by the U.S. Marine Corps.
This column despises any form of imperial action as a grave violation of democratic and republican values. But the U.S. could do enormous good for Haiti, which needs a major rescue mission for a desperate people who have failed to govern themselves and have no other hope. Most Haitians, I think, would welcome U.S. humanitarian intervention.
It's heartening to see a member of the esteemed intelligentsia acknowledge that there are societies which cannot be relied up on to govern themselves, and require the hand of a functioning democracy, to establish working order. One wonders though, what distinguishes Haitians from, say, Palestinians...I mean, other than skin color?

Margolis is just another leftist idiot who believes any place we have the troops is the wrong place - and has a list of places we should put them instead. Then once we put them there, it magically becomes the wrong place...

Colonization is almost like raising kids. Let them grow up with law & order, a set of values and they tend to turn out okay. If the kid (country) runs away from home then there is a good chance that they are screwed. Many Caribbean islands grew up and claimed their independence with the blessings of the mother country and are doing okay. Of course, abused kids (and countries) have a tougher road to follow.

Why is is that former French colonies (Haiti, Algeria, Vietnam) generally do so much worse on their own than ex-British ones (USA, Canada, India)?
Haiti could hardly wait to escape the French, yet that poor benighted nation has been FAR worse off since it shed its Frog shackles.
The libtards are very happy to send our armed forces (which they normally despise and belittle) off on humanitarian missions for which they were neither designed nor equipped (but which to their everlasting credit they always outperform everyone else anyway), AND which are of practically zero strategic value to America.
These very same libs crucified Bush for using these same forces to save Iraqis from their monstrous leader Saddam, which mission also guaranteed that any possible WMD threat from Iraq was also quashed. Granted all the controversy there---I'm just pointing out the double standard.
I also remember how in the 1990s, both before and during Monicagate, Pres. Bubba waged war in Slavic Europe with almost ZERO criticism from his party or libs in general, although he had no official UN blessing which the libs always crave (or a declaration of war from Congress which we old fuddy duddy Constitutionalists like to see).
Obama will find a way to spend GOBS of money we don't have on a rathole of a corrupt country that could soak up billions and still be a rathole. Of course, Haitians are more important than Americans who are suffering in this Depression, especially Americans who don't support his hideous agenda.
While he's at it, I expect Obama to duplicate his buddy Jimma "I'm a peanut" Carter's foolishness of admitting a large number of Cuba's riff raff (the 1979 Mariel boatlift). Why not let all nine million Haitians come to America and register as Dimwits? If we can afford to support all Mexicans, why not Haitians?
