Have we all lost our minds?
Do we honestly want to treat a soldier who commits suicide while on active duty, as an honourable death on the same plane as those who truly give their life in service to their country?
Soldiers who commit suicide would receive the medal if the suicide is found to have been service-related, according military officials hosting a media briefing Monday.
I think it's disgraceful. This is the most certain form of desertion and should be treated as the shameful act it is.
The enemy are big fans of suicide, too. Why not give them all medals?

A soldier who dies while driving a supply truck off the road or hitting an IED in a theatre of war, has sacrificed his life for his/her country. No argument there, or even if hit by friendly fire but deserting by purposely removing yourself from this life is still an act of a coward.

By this insane reasoning, maybe we should give a medal to the disturbed Islamist mass-murdering terrorist Maj. Hasan.
Although he survived, some PC nutcase may ascribe his dastardly deeds to service-related stress and attempted suicide.
BTW, I HATE the term "suicide bomber", as it misses the point. These are MURDERERS whose own deaths are incidental to their purpose of killing infidels. If they could kill us without sacrificing their own lives, most would happily do so. I prefer the term "homicide bomber".
